“I’m honored to be able to contribute to an organization that does so much good in our community.”, states Johnny Chappell. “Passage Home is dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty for families and veterans in Wake County and to building stronger communities. I’m looking forward to giving back and helping out, however possible.”

As a leadership team member, Chappell brings unique development insight, expert residential experience, and a genuine passion for the Wake County community. This isn’t the first recognition Chappell received for his Triangle leadership. Earlier this year, he was named to the 2021 CEO of the Year/C-Suite Awards Class by the Triangle Business Journal. “I’m hoping that my experience in real estate development can add value to Passage Home’s mission as it relates to affordable housing. We have an incredible shortage of affordable housing options, and hard-working folks deserve a safe, welcoming place to call home.”

While serving as an active board member, Chappell contributes to the programmatic, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long-term organizational stability and year-to-year excellence for Passage Home. The Advisory Board also oversees the Executive Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of Passage Home.

Passage Home is a non-profit, anti-poverty agency. The organization has served Wake County residents since its founding in 1991. For the last thirty years, its mission has remained the same: provide stability to vulnerable communities and assist Wake residents facing various forms of housing insecurity. Through its vital efforts, Passage Home has challenged systemic inequality in the Wake County community by addressing the housing, economic, and education inequities long overlooked.

Currently, the organization maintains 96 affordable housing units in the Wake County area and is in the process of developing hundreds more: an effort Chappell hopes to assist in.

“I’m hoping that my experience in real estate development can add value to Passage Home’s mission as it relates to affordable housing. We have an incredible shortage of affordable housing options, and hard-working folks deserve a safe, welcoming place to call home. It’s also important that we address displacement and make sure that our neighborhoods are economically, racially, and culturally diverse, fostering a true sense of community.”
