Chappell’s Ian C. Dunne Named to 2022 Telly Judging Council

Chappell [Powered by Compass] is excited to announce VP of Marketing, Ian C. Dunne, will serve on the 2022 Telly Awards Judging Council. This exclusive invitation follows a career of multiple Telly honors, all celebrating Dunne’s ongoing commitment to compelling visual storytelling and creative digital marketing content.

Dunne joins the Telly Award Council’s industry body of 200+ leading creative professionals spanning multiple disciplines. This diverse group of experts from advertising agencies, production companies, major television networks, publishers, and brand studios; all represent the finest of their respective fields. Dunne’s election to this highly selective national judging council is indicative of years of creative achievement, spanning multiple cutting-edge industries.

It was immediately clear at the outset that the creative team at Chappell, led by Ian, was in an echelon of its own. His use of video, elevated digital content, refreshing designs and eye-grabbing website development truly made Chappell the must-get for us.”

As VP of Marketing for Chappell, Dunne helms a small, yet nimble in-house creative & digital marketing division. His team’s approach to creating + distributing engaging digital content directly challenges the more “traditional” real estate marketing strategy and tactics. It’s this digital-first strategy that has not only proven overwhelmingly successful for Chappell but has drawn national attention from leading corporations looking to innovate.

“Whether it’s a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned developer, we really want our clients to experience real estate differently. The creative content we produce is at the center of that experience,” said Johnny Chappell, Owner & Broker at Chappell. “In 2019, we sought to bring all of our marketing services in-house. I specifically wanted to find a leader with zero real estate experience, and the confidence to make our work stand out from the crowd. Ian came in with a wide range of creative capabilities and, most importantly, an unwavering positivity. He learned real estate quickly and assembled an energetic group that now produces exceptional work around the clock. I couldn’t be more proud of Ian and our creative team, and I’m even more excited to see what they do next!”

With such positive industry feedback, Chappell’s new sister marketing company – reroute – was formally established in late 2021 with Dunne assuming the role of Chief Marketing Officer & Creative Director alongside his obligations as Chappell’s VP Marketing. The new company is also led by Owner Johnny Chapell and recently-named Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Woody, who both simultaneously maintain their respective roles for Chappell.

Director of Strategic Growth for Compass, Caleb Cambell, spoke to the initial perception of Chappell’s marketing under Dunne’s leadership, stating: “In looking for a founding partner to help launch the Compass brand in the Triangle – we looked for innovative, eye-grabbing content that stood out from the crowd and told a story. It was immediately clear at the outset that the creative team at Chappell, led by Ian, was in an echelon of its own. His use of video, elevated digital content, refreshing designs and eye-grabbing website development truly made Chappell the must-get for us.” Following Chappell’s affiliation with Compass, the nation’s leading residential brokerage & tech-based real estate firm, the national firm named reroute as a preferred digital marketing partner in its ongoing expansion efforts.

“I’ve been privileged to work alongside Ian for many years now at multiple organizations, and I have witnessed firsthand the influence of his leadership and out-of-the-box approach. I can confidently state I’ve never worked with a creator or strategist of his caliber,” says Jess Kleean, Marketing Specialist for Chappell x reroute. “At the heart of his proven marketing method & streamlined digital strategy is an intrinsically human story. Approachable, yet refined, his vision & ability to craft a narrative drives our clients, community, and quite frankly, complete strangers to connect with our messaging.”

“I’m incredibly honored to serve on the Telly’s Judging Council. It’s been an organization I have followed for years and its reputation speaks for itself,” Dunne said. “I’m even more humbled and gracious to see the words of other colleagues who speak about me with such high praise. I am speechless and I think most people who know me, know that is something that rarely ever happens. At the end of the day, I just love marketing, I love to create, and I love to help businesses, brands, and teams grow. It’s nothing special. We have a job to do and I like to think our team (not just me) gets it done at a high level each and every day. Accolades and awards are a reflection of all of our hard work.”
